1. BUMP OUT HOME ADDITIONS

You could call the bump out minimalist or efficient. At Signature we call it fast and effective. We design build kitchens, additions, and baths. Think about the impact to a child of a consistent Sunday ritual of Dad making breakfast, or Mom, Grandma, and all the sisters making Thanksgiving turkey in a kitchen large enough for all to gather round, or Sunday football with family & friends in large family room addition. All are bound to make your home more livable, enjoyable and valuable, especially if the space you have now cannot address these needs. It is a larger investment. You will have to consider, excavating footers, foundation walls, framing, windows and doors, trusses and roofing materials as well as heating, ventilation, plumbing and electrical to a far greater degree than for a bump out addition or basement remodel. But in the end it could make all the difference in resale value and enjoyment.

4. RECYCLING SPACE NOT EXCATLY A HOME ADDITION

Sometimes the space you need is already at hand. An existing garage may provide convertible space for an au pair or an auxiliary apartment to bring parents or children closer to home. A deck or porch may already provide substantial infrastructure for a main level expansion. This may provide all of the benefits of a full size room home additions, at a lower level of investment.
