Kitchen Planning
Who should you seek a satisfying Kitchen Remodel through,
a Kitchen Designer or a Kitchen Contractor?
What are the ingredients of a satisfying kitchen remodel?
What is the difference between a kitchen designer and a kitchen contractor anyway?
At Signature Kitchens, Additions & Baths we would like to share with you our ingredients,
our process, our kitchen designs, product selection, construction
and budgeting. All together leading to your satisfaction with our collaborative creation of your new kitchen!
Before we address the first question let's get the second question answered.
This question comes up from customers everywhere we work. In Montgomery County MD
from Olney to Bethesda, and Potomac, In Washington DC, from Chevy Chase, to Adams
Morgan on to Capitol Hill and in Virginia from Mclean to Falls Church. Everyone wants
to know who they ought to start the conversation with the Kitchen Designer or the
Kitchen Contractor? We have a unique answer.
From a designers view point a
kitchen design is more art than science. It is about the
"WHY"! We need to know you, what are your tastes, your likes & dislikes. We love to see
customer arriving at 850C Gude Dr in Rockville MD with pictures and tabbed magazines!
We'll ask how you function. Do you both cook? Do your kids cook? Do you have pets who
think they can help you cook? Do you entertain? Do you want to be with your guests while
you cook? Are you right or left handed? What is your height? Do you or any family members
have a physical challenge? Additionally, we need to know your house, its current amenities
so they can be complimented and built upon instead of diminished or offended. That coupled
with product knowledge, current trends, your environmental interests and your budget are
the designers' ingredients for a satisfying kitchen remodel. Seems pretty comprehensive!
Is it enough!
From a kitchens contractors' point of view a satisfying kitchen remodel is more science
than art, maybe a better word, would be engineering or experience, than art. It' all about
the "HOW"! A satisfying kitchen remodel must then revolve around quality trim carpentry,
cabinet fit and function, room structure, especially if it is being enlarged. For example
are TGI, vs. LVL structural members the right product to give you the span you have requested
between loads. How is the kitchen remodel impacted by MEP. Mechanical. Ductwork is often a
challenging obstacle and you better be on the right side of replacement air when it becomes
a topic. Electrical from panel box to under the cabinet lighting. Plumbing from venting an
island to the code requirements for supply lines in outside walls. How about the dimensional
impact of tile, back splash, drywall, pipes, wires, and on and on. Important? You bet is.
Do you need both? At Signature Kitchens, Additions & Baths we certainly believe you need both
skill sets, ideally in the same company. As kitchen designers we are members of NKBA and SEN.
As licensed contractors in MD, DC and in VA, we are members of NARI and NAHB. Our goal is your
satisfaction, and not oddly your houses satisfaction.
